If you feel you need more support than family or friends can provide, contact your doctor or counseling agency in your area. Other resources can include spiritual communities, crisis lines and bereavement support groups.

Toronto Distress Centre – Survivor Support Program

Self referral 416-595-1716

The Survivor Support Program offers an adult-oriented support service for those who have experienced a death by suicide. Their volunteers create a semi-structured, safe place in which survivors can identify, explore and clarify their thoughts and feelings. By helping individuals define their situations and acknowledge their emotions, the support process leads survivors to a consideration of what normal grieving is under these circumstances, the meaning of the suicide, and a sense of how they can manage.

Both individualized and group support are available.

Participation in the program is free.
