Health and Wellness Groups

Our Health and Wellness Groups encourage the mental health and wellness of women by providing an opportunity to increase their social networks, gain information about health and wellness, share ideas and concerns, and learn about their community and its resources.

Let’s Discuss It

encourages the mental health and wellness of women by providing an opportunity to increase their social networks, gain information about health and wellness, share ideas and concerns, and learn about their community and its resources. These groups are for women who are at risk of mental health problems due to their difficult life circumstances and social isolation, and who also may be facing cultural and linguistic barriers. The groups are held in community locations, and supervised childcare is provided in some cases. Groups are offered in English, Spanish and Tamil, and there is a group offered in Italian for senior women. Let’s Discuss It is for residents of the City of Toronto.

Newcomer Women’s Wellness Groups

offer support for women in partnership with settlement and community agencies, serving specific ethno-cultural communities, including (but not limited to) the Afghan, Tibetan, Hindi, Polish, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Tamil and Italian communities. These groups promote the mental health of women who are newcomers, and as a result are experiencing social isolation, and cultural and linguistic barriers. The groups, which are language specific, provide a supportive environment where women can develop leadership skills and discuss topics that are important to their wellness, such as nutrition and stress management, and where they can share information on community resources.  Newcomer Women’s Wellness Groups are offered throughout the City of Toronto, in response to expressed needs.
