CMHA Toronto applies a Health Equity framework to all its programs and services, to promote wellness.
Health Equity refers to achieving the highest level of health for all people by equalizing the conditions that promote wellness, especially for those who have experienced disadvantages due to gender, race, ethnicity, education, income, or disability. Creating this framework brings together our key priority areas – equity and diversity, consumer engagement and advocacy – in a coordinated and strategic way. This will move us closer to achieving our mission:
“Mentally healthy people in a healthy society.”
CMHA Toronto’s Work with the Health Equity Impact Assessment (HEIA)
On July 17, 2014, CMHA Toronto partnered with CMHA Ontario, Health Nexus and the Ministry of Health to deliver a webinar on the HEIA. This webinar explores the concepts of equity issues in mental health in Ontario and how the Health Equity Impact Assessment can be an important tool for service delivery and program planning. An orientation to the HEIA tool and case studies are also provided.
