Thank you for your interest in serving on CMHA Toronto’s volunteer Board of Directors. Please read the information on this page as well as the information in the Board Nomination form.
At CMHA Toronto’s 2021 AGM, we expect there to be four vacancies to fill. To ensure the Board of Directors has the breadth of experience and expertise required to oversee an organization of the size and complexity of CMHA Toronto, the Board has identified that new members with senior level skills in accounting/finance, human resources, philanthropy, and quality improvement are needed (especially those in a health care setting). Having lived or living experience of mental health challenges and/or addictions is always considered an asset for being on our Board of Directors.
The CMHA Toronto Board of Directors actively works to ensure that our Board members reflect the diversity of the community we serve. As a result, we’re reaching out to communities and individuals who have traditionally been underrepresented on boards of directors, including, but not limited to, people who are racialized, people with disabilities, First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people, people of all sexual orientations and genders, and others who may contribute to the diversity of our Board.

Please note that the signatures of 10 CMHA Toronto members, as specified on page 5 of the nomination form, are not required. According to the CMHA Toronto bylaws, the nominated person must be included on the election slate if 10 signatures of members in good standing are submitted. If less than ten signatures are submitted (or if no signatures are submitted), the nominee will only be added to the election slate only if the Board Development Committee believes they will add to the experience, expertise,= and diversity required on the Board. If you’re collecting signatures, make sure each member receives the form one at a time so that all signatures are in one file.
