CMHA Toronto supports the following statement from OCASI and will continue to do our part to acknowledge anti-black racism, institutional racism as well as use our health equity framework to reduce barriers faced by communities of color and indigenous communities. We played a lead role in the Andrew Loku inquest and are continuing to encourage Toronto Police to implement the Loku inquest recommendations. I am co-chair of the TPS mental health and addictions panel and I expect we will also have an opportunity to develop additional advice to improve TPS policing when the investigations of the recent death of Regis Paquet in High Park are made public.
