Housing Services provide a place to live for those individuals who have a mental illness that is safe and affordable. This allows them to live independently, which helps to improve the quality of their lives.
CMHA Toronto provides Housing Services under the Homelessness Initiative Program (HIP) and the Mental Health and Justice (MHJ) Initiative.
HIP Housing Services
provide permanent and affordable housing to individuals living with mental illness, enabling them to live independently and improve the quality of their lives. Support is provided to help individuals maintain their housing, and access the community resources which will assist them in their recovery process. Our housing outreach workers also act as a liaison between the landlords and our tenants/clients by providing information on their respective rights and responsibilities. CMHA Toronto is part of the Toronto Mental Health and Addictions Supportive Housing Network, a network of 29 housing providers. Individuals can fill in one application form and be considered for all 29 supportive housing programs. They can also indicate the geographical area and type of housing they are looking for, as well as the supports they require.
